Jagdpanzer (JgPz) is the name given in German to heavy tracked tanks, although it can also be used for other types of self-propelled guns. Translated from German, Jagdpanzer is "hunting tank".
It usually refers to an anti-tank variant of an existing tank chassis with a casemate and well-maintained upper body, fitted with an anti-tank gun with a smaller front line, and used in the Western countries of World War II as a tank destroyer.
